Led by Chartered Accountant Shehryar Khan ACA, LL.M
Shehryar Khan is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), holds an LLM and Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Wolverhampton, and is a registered advocate with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council in Pakistan — a combination of financial and legal expertise that brings a distinctly rigorous and compliance-focused perspective to client engagements.
Shehryar brings over fifteen years of senior finance experience spanning listed companies, multinational corporations and growing SMEs. His career includes senior roles at a leading global manufacturing corporation where he served as a Board Member, managing statutory accounts, leading external audits and being selected for a Global Finance & Leadership Management Programme.
His technical expertise spans the full breadth of finance and accounting — from statutory accounts preparation under UK GAAP and IFRS, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow and treasury management, through to corporation tax, VAT, payroll, R&D tax credits, SEIS/EIS compliance, internal audit and corporate governance. He has extensive experience with SAP, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, IRIS and Microsoft Dynamics, and holds a strong command of UK tax legislation and cross-border taxation including international VAT, double taxation agreements and customs duty.
Earlier in his career, Shehryar served as Assistant Financial Controller at an AIM-listed financial services company on the London Stock Exchange, where he prepared statutory and management accounts, developed a detailed long-term financial model for equity financing purposes that was presented to investors and contributed to the company successfully raising significant equity finance, and managed complex multi-currency revenue recognition at short notice — a transition accomplished without disruption to the business.
Shehryar has a particular strength in regulatory compliance — identifying legislative changes, assessing their applicability to the business and implementing revised processes to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. His experience includes successfully managing VAT inspections, researching and implementing compliant processes in response to new legislative requirements to mitigate the risk of significant financial penalties, and identifying payroll and VAT compliance issues during internal audits that led to revised processes generating substantial cost savings. His experience extends to FCA regulatory reporting, transfer pricing, SEIS/EIS compliance and cross-border taxation — giving clients confidence that their financial operations remain aligned with an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
Shehryar also served as an ACCA Registered Mentor for the Oxford Brookes University BSc in Applied Accounting and as an exam marker for Kaplan Financial — reflecting a longstanding commitment to developing the next generation of finance professionals.
In 2014, Shehryar established SyK Management Consulting to bring institutional-quality financial management to growing businesses at a fraction of the cost of maintaining an in-house department. Since then, the firm has built a strong track record working with clients across a diverse range of industries, supporting businesses at different stages of growth from early-stage startups through to established owner-managed companies.
Shehryar is an avid reader with a particular interest in finance, law and business strategy. Outside the office he is a keen cricketer — an ambidextrous medium pace bowler equally comfortable with either hand, which perhaps reflects the analytical and adaptable approach he brings to client work.
